Provisional Bishop: Bishop Jerry A. Lamb


Bishop Jerry A. LambJerry A. Lamb was born September 4, 1940 in Denver, Colorado and is a graduate of St. Thomas College (B.A. Philosophy) and St. Thomas Seminary (M.A. Theology), Denver, Colorado, and the University of Oregon (M.A. Counseling/Vocational Rehabilitation).  He was ordained May 1965 in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Denver and received by Bishop Bigliardi in March of 1977.  He was the Executive Assistant to the Bishop of Oregon until his election as the sixth Bishop of Northern California on February 2, 1991, and consecrated Bishop Coadjutor June 9, 1991.

Bishop Lamb's experience includes Rector of Trinity Church, Ashland, Oregon; Assistant to the Rector, Coos Bay; College Chaplain Asst. All Saints', Denver, and Director of Camp St. Malo in Colorado and related secular employment. He has served as Deputy to two General Conventions and Provincial Synods, and served on the Council of Advice to Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold and the Joint Nominating Committee for the XXVI Presiding Bishop.

Bishop Lamb retired as Bishop of the Diocese of Northern California on January 1, 2007. Following his "retirement" Bishop Lamb was invited by the Diocese of Nevada to serve as Bishop while that diocese searched for and called a bishop to replace Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori. He served in that diocese for one year until the consecration of a new bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dan Edwards on Jan. 5, 2008. Since Oct 2007, Bishop Lamb has performed episcopal functions in the Diocese of Rio Grande. 

Bishop Lamb is married to Jane Onstad Lamb; they have one daughter, Katherine, who lives in Pasadena. Bishop and Mrs. Lamb currently live in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Jane Lamb is the daughter of the Rev. Galen H. Onstead, who served as rector of St. James Sonora from 1965-1971.
